It was the original 24-hour Scottish fell running challenge before some ambitious chap decided to add a few more Munros to create the Ramsay Round, which is the route a select bunch of hardy fell runners now aspire to complete in 24 hours.Īfter convincing Rhys to join me, I dug out my maps of the region so that we could get planning! Local legend Finlay Wild had recently broken both the record for the Ramsay Round and the Tranter Round, the latter taking him just 9 hours. The Tranter Round is about 60km and 6,000m of ascent covering the Mamores, the Grey Corries and the Ben Nevis range. After a summer in the Lake District it was time to get away and explore some hills that I didn’t know so well. I was in need of a big adventure – a long mountain journey.
